What we do

One building, three rooms, one contact person per session

We record vocals, bands of up to eight people, podcasts and voice talent, mix multitrack projects in Control Room 1 and master for streaming, CD and vinyl. Every service has its own page with the process, what is delivered, turnaround times and a complete rate table. Prices include 20 % Austrian VAT; businesses also see the net amount.

What you will not find here: hidden flat fees, meters running without warning, or files that vanish after the session. Raw files reach you within 2 working days, projects stay in the archive for 12 months, and every enquiry gets a written quote within 1 working day.

  • Prices that are on the website

Every service has a rate table with gross and net amounts. The quote repeats exactly these rates.

  • One engineer per session

Whoever runs the recording stays responsible until delivery. No handovers between changing engineers.

  • Raw files in 2 working days, archive 12 months

You receive every track as WAV, consolidated from bar one. The project remains retrievable for a year.

Process

From enquiry to delivery in four steps

  1. Step 1

    Enquiry

Tell us what you want to record, how many people are coming and which dates you have in mind. We reply within 1 working day.

  2. Step 2

    Quote and deposit

You receive a written quote with every item incl. 20 % VAT. A 30 % deposit fixes the date; reschedule free of charge up to 5 working days before.

  3. Step 3

    Session

Setup, soundcheck and recording with your engineer. Breaks, headphone mixes and take sheets are part of the booked time, not extras.

  4. Step 4

    Delivery and revisions

Raw files within 2 working days, mixes with 2 revision rounds, masters with one. The balance is due after approval; the rights in the master then pass to you.

The studio

In the courtyard of Burggasse 95 since 2016

The studio sits in the courtyard wing of a Gründerzeit building between Zieglergasse and Kaiserstraße, an eight-minute walk from the U3 Zieglergasse station. The live room used to be a workshop: 68 m², a 4.2 m ceiling, a wooden floor on a floating construction, plus a 34 m² control room and a 9 m² vocal booth.

The building holds 32 analogue preamp channels, 24 microphones from ribbons to large-diaphragm condensers and a grand piano built in 1979. Lukas, Theresa and Mario share recording, mixing and mastering as well as coordination.

Frequently asked

What clients want to know before their first session

How do I book a session at Klangnest?

Use the form on our contact page or e-mail [email protected] with your preferred dates, the kind of recording and a rough number of tracks. Mario Wieser replies within 1 working day with a written quote and two or three available slots. Your date is confirmed once you accept the quote and the 30 % deposit has reached our account. During opening hours you can also call us on +43 1 890 46 27.

How do I get to the studio?

Klangnest is at Burggasse 95, 1070 Vienna, in the courtyard of a Gründerzeit building in Neubau. Take the U3 to Zieglergasse (exit Westbahnstraße) and walk about 8 minutes, or the U6 to Burggasse-Stadthalle and walk roughly 10 minutes along Burggasse towards the centre. Bus 48A stops at Kaiserstraße/Burggasse and Zieglergasse/Burggasse, 2 to 4 minutes on foot; tram 49 stops at Kaiserstraße (Westbahnstraße), about a 5-minute walk. From Westbahnhof it is about 15 minutes on foot. The building sits in the 7th district's short-term parking zone; a loading bay in front of the house for instruments and backline can be arranged on request. You will find the location on OpenStreetMap.

When do I receive the raw files after a recording?

Within 2 working days of the session we provide every track as WAV files at the recording resolution via a download link – sorted by song and take, cleanly named and sharing a common start point. If you need something on the day itself, tell us before the session.

Who owns the recording after the session?

You do. Once the job has been paid in full, all rights in the recordings and masters we have produced for you pass to you – without any limit in time or territory. Until then the files remain with us. The exact wording is in article 8 of the terms, and the background is explained in our guide Rights to your master.

How much is the deposit and when is it due?

When you accept the quote we issue a deposit invoice for 30 % based on the order value; your date is fixed once the amount has reached our account. The balance is invoiced after the session or after approval of the mix or master. All prices are in euros incl. 20 % VAT. The full payment terms are in article 6 of the terms.
